Kilmarnock: Steve Clarke says it was easy to reject Rangers' bid for Jordan Jones

Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke insists it was easy to turn down Rangers' offer for winger Jordan Jones.

It is believed the Ibrox outfit bid around £350,000 for the 23-year-old Northern Ireland international, who has 18 months left on his contract.

"We didn't even have to discuss it too much; it was just a straight no," Clarke told BBC Scotland.

"I have to say I thought the offer from Rangers was a long long way short of the mark."

And Clarke, who was named Premiership manager of the month for December, added: "If you look at Kilmarnock historically, if the price is right for the club and the deal is right for the player, then Kilmarnock football club is not a club that would stand in somebody's way and block their way."

Rangers, meanwhile, hope to conclude a loan deal for Norwich defender Russell Martin this week.

The Scotland international is expected to arrive in Glasgow on Tuesday for a medical.

The Ibrox club are also on the verge of signing Nottingham Forest striker Jason Cummings on loan until the end of the season, with the 22-year-old having arrived in Glasgow on Sunday night ahead of a medical.

Martin would also be signing until the end of the season, having dropped out of the first-team reckoning at Norwich, where he is still club captain.

Rangers have already signed Sean Goss on loan from Queen's Park Rangers until the end of the season, and Jamie Murphy on loan from Brighton, with an option to make the deal permanent in the summer.
