The Premiership title race will not be resolved until the end of October at the earliest despite leaders Kingussie's 7-0 defeat of Glasgow Mid Argyll at Yoker.

Domestic play will pause for the international break for the shinty-hurling encounter with Ireland in Newry, with Kingussie still needing two points from their final two games to retain their title.

Rivals Newtonmore lurk two points behind with Kyles Athletic a further point back.

Kieran MacPherson opened the scoring for Kingussie and Ruaridh Anderson made it 2-0 midway through the first half.

Captain James Falconer added the next four goals, three of them after the break, and Liam Borthwick completed the scoring in the penultimate minute.

The game also marked a farewell to the Premiership for Glasgow Mid Argyll, the first team to complete their programme, who collected just one point from their 18 games and finished 10 adrift at the foot of the table.

Kinlochshiel continued their quest for a top-half finish with a 4-0 victory in a game switched to their opponents Lovat's pitch at Kiltarlity.

Keith MacRae gave them the lead just before half time and David Falconer added two in a minute, before Jordan Fraser wrapped up the scoring.

Nine different players found the net in the annual game for the Aviemore Trophy (Mod Cup) where Strachur -Dunoon edged Glasgow University 5-4 to mark the beginning of the Royal National Mod in Paisley.

Glaschu edged Alba 3-2 for the Learn Gaelic Trophy, the women's Mod Cup.
