Judd Trump survived a scare at the International Championship in China to beat fellow Englishman Jimmy Robertson 6-5 in the first round.

Trump, who won the tournament in 2012, failed to make a higher break than 82 in his match in Chengdu.

The 25-year-old, from Bristol, clinched victory with a break of 67.

Australia's Neil Robertson beat Matt Selt 6-3, but Stephen Maguire lost 6-5 to Thai Noppon Saengkham despite a tournament-high 140 in the ninth frame.

Peter Ebdon failed to make a break over 50 but still beat Andrew Pagett 6-1, Shaun Murphy whistled through his tie with Yu De Lu 6-1 and England's Rod Lawler overcame rising star Oliver Lines 6-3.

Elsewhere there were wins for Ricky Walden, Dave Gilbert, Mitchell Mann, Jamie Burnett, Marco Fu, Fergal O'Brien, Joe Swail and Robert Milkins.
