Hong Kong's Ng On Yee won the Ladies' World Snooker Championship to end the 10-year reign of Reanne Evans.

Yee, 24, beat England's Evans 4-2 in the semi-final and another home hope, Emma Bonney, 6-2 in the final at the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds.

The 2009 and 2010 World Amateur champion only dropped four frames in four matches from the last-16 stage.

But it is her win over Evans - who lost to Ken Doherty in qualifying for the mens' competition - which stands out.

Evans, 29, has dominated the ladies' game and in 2010 became the first woman to be granted the chance to qualify for mens' events since Alison Fisher in 1994.

And she pushed Doherty close to eventually lose 10-8 in the first of three qualifiers for this year's mens' World Championship.

But just 11 days later, Yee - who lost 6-0 to Evans in last year's final - claimed an unexpected win to become the first new world ladies' champion in a decade.

Jasmine Bolsover, 15, from Woking, won the under-21 title and the doubles event alongside Evans.

"It feels amazing to be a World Champion," said Bolsover, who was given permission by her school to take time out of her GCSE schedule to compete in the tournament. "I've had a brilliant time and it's the greatest achievement of my career so far."
