Mark Allen bowed out of the Shanghai Masters after a 5-2 last-16 defeat by local hero Ding Junhui.
The Chinese star hit five breaks over 50, with a top run of 86, as he accounted for world number six Allen.
Ding's win sets up a quarter-final with Michael Holt who earned a 5-2 victory over Ronnie O'Sullivan.
O'Sullivan, making his first tournament appearance of the season, led 2-1 before Holt took control to reel off four frames helped by a break of 103.
