Mark Selby is out of the Northern Ireland Open after a 4-3 defeat by Louis Heathcote in Belfast on Sunday night.

The four-time world champion won the opener in the first-round encounter, but fellow Leicester player Heathcote hit back to lead 2-1 and 3-2.

Selby took the sixth frame to set up a decider, before Heathcote made a 71 break to give the world number 71 victory.

While Ronnie O'Sullivan pulled out for medical reasons, Judd Trump began his defence of the title with a 4-0 win over Ishpreet Singh Chadha in just 49 minutes.

The world number one, who is chasing a fifth title at the Waterfront Hall, made two half-century breaks before a 112 in the third frame.

India's Singh Chadha registered just 31 points in the game as Trump roared through to the second round.

There was disappointment for Jordan Brown in his home tournament as he lost out 4-2 to Robert Milkins.

Brown fought back from 3-0 down to make it 3-2, but it was Milkins who took the next frame.

England's Shaun Murphy progressed to the next round with a 4-2 win over Jiang Jun of China.

Luca Brecel beat He Guoqiang 4-3 and Jak Jones cruised to a 4-0 win over Alexander Ursenbacher.

Stan Moody defeated Dominic Dale 4-3, while Zhou Yuelong, Matthew Selt, Mark Davis and Lei Peifan also progressed to the second round.
