  1. Trump edges another hard-fought framepublished at 15:17 Greenwich Mean Time

    Trump 2-1 Higgins

Another lengthy frame goes the way of Judd Trump.

John Higgins is now the one fuming albeit with himself after missing a pink down the right cushion to hand a second consecutive frame to his opponent.

Neither player has managed a break in excess of 40 yet.

  2. Angry Bingham misses out on maximumpublished at 15:13 Greenwich Mean Time

    Bingham 4-1 Zhang

    Steve Sutcliffe
    BBC Sport at York Barbican

Stuart Bingham opens up a three-frame gap with a break of 105 but he does not look happy.

    Far from it actually.

He had potted 14 reds and 13 blacks and was on for a maximum 147, when he missed a black to the left corner and then pointed his cue towards someone at the side of the table.

  3. Bingham makes the runningpublished at 14:42 Greenwich Mean Time

    Bingham 3-1 Zhang

If table one is all about gripping match-play snooker, table two has been rather more fluent.

And Stuart Bingham is the man who continues to make the running with a run of 60 helping the 48-year-old head to the mid-session interval with a healthy lead.

  4. Trump levelspublished at 14:35 Greenwich Mean Time

    Higgins 1-1 Trump

    Steve Sutcliffe
    BBC Sport at York Barbican

John Higgins is aiming to end an almost four-year ranking title drought but he will not do it playing like he did in the second frame.

The three-time UK champion had a couple of chances to double his lead but could not take them and then missed the pink altogether when trying to play a thin safety shot. His second attempt at the same pink left Judd Trump with the sort of long pot he knocks in, in his sleep.

And he obliged to take the frame.

  5. Zhang gets up and runningpublished at 14:28 Greenwich Mean Time

    Bingham 2-1 Zhang

Zhang Anda is up and running.

The 32-year-old is yet to make it beyond the quarter-finals of a tournament yet this season but will be hoping that settles him into this contest.

  6. Higgins wins fascinating opening framepublished at 14:01 Greenwich Mean Time

    Higgins 1-0 Trump

    Steve Sutcliffe
    BBC Sport at York Barbican

John Higgins has not beaten Judd Trump over this sort of distance since the Hong Kong Masters in 2022 but he takes the opening frame here with a tough black along the bottom rail.

Higgins had trailed by 40 points at one stage and that is some steal.

  7. Bingham goes two frames uppublished at 13:57 Greenwich Mean Time

Stuart Bingham is not hanging around albeit he is helped considerably by a Zhang Anda miss on the green to the top right corner pocket with the frame seemingly at his mercy.

    Bingham 1-0 Zhang

Stuart Bingham is motoring and wraps up the first frame with a superb break of 101.
