Speedway: Leicester Lions eye quick Premier League call

Leicester Lions owner David Hemsley says it is vital the club get a swift decision on whether their application to the Elite League has been accepted.

The Lions have applied to be part of speedway's top division after two seasons in the Premier League.

A decision should be made in November.

"We have to plan for next year and have a business to run so the earlier we know where we are going, the earlier we can start to plan for the 2013 season," Hemsley said.

"We are excited about the opportunity and I feel the re-introduction of speedway to the highest level of racing can only be a positive thing can for speedway UK-wide."
