Wales lost 2-1 to favourites Egypt in the semi-finals of the Men's World Team Championship in Washington DC, USA.

Having upset the seedings to knock out Hong Kong and Scotland on their way to a first last-four spot since 1999, Wales threatened another shock win.

World No 12 Joel Makin began by beating reigning world champion Tarek Momen in a stunning five-game match.

Karim Abdel Gawad beat Peter Creed to level, before Mohamed Abouelghar downed Emyr Evans to send Egypt to the final.

Egypt will face England in the final, after they beat France 2-1 in their semi.
