Amy Smith has picked up her first individual senior medal with a bronze in the 100m freestyle at the European Short Course Championships in Poland.

The Loughborough University swimmer finished in 52.77 seconds to come third.

"I am delighted with that," the 24-year-old said.

"I went into the final ranked first so I was hoping to win but the gold time was 51.94 seconds. I think that is a bit out of my reach at the moment."

She added: "It's my first senior medal and great preparation for the year ahead."

British team-mate Rebecca Turner also broke her personal best in the finals at Szczecin, finishing ninth with a time of 53.88 seconds.

15-year-old Molly Renshaw finished fifth in the final of the 200m breaststroke. Her time of 2:22.86 set a new English record and British junior record.

She said after the race: "It was great to get out there in a senior final and to get a new personal [best] is a great feeling.

"I had no expectations of this meet, I just wanted to make the final so to come fifth in a best time is brilliant."

Stacey Tadd finished 10th, 0.28secs short of her heat time, as she touched in 2:24.75.

Georgia Davies finished fifth in the 100m backstroke final, while Eleanor Faulkner came home fifth in the 800m freestyle, in a time of 8:20.91, her second personal best time in as many days.

Anne Bochmann was 12th overall, also setting a new personal best of 8:29.86.

Joe Roebuck finished seventh 400m individual medley final, improving his time from the heats to clock 4.07.79.

Commonwealth silver medallist Michael Jamieson was eighth in the 100m breaststroke in 58.91.

Smith, Turner and Davies returned to the pool, and along with Hayley Towner, finished ninth in the women's 4 x 50m freestyle relay final in 1:40.14.
