Mixed doubles title for Melzer and Benesova

Jurgen Melzer and Iveta Benesova won the last major title of Wimbledon 2011 by beating Mahesh Bhupathi and Elena Vesnina in the mixed doubles final.

The ninth seeds won 6-3 6-2 in just 51 minutes on Centre Court.

It was a first Grand Slam title for Benesova although Melzer won last year's men's doubles at Wimbledon.

Melzer and Benesova raced through the first set in 24 minutes and went on to wrap up victory in the year's final singles match just before 1815 BST.

The result meant that the pair did not drop a set in the entire tournament.

It was a disappointing result for the fourth seeds, especially as Bhupathi was chasing his eighth Grand Slam mixed doubles title, with two of his seven successes coming at the All England Club.
