Heather Watson has moved back into the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) top 100 after reaching the last eight of the Quebec City Bell Challenge.

Watson lost to Tamira Paszek in straight sets, but did enough to rise to number 99 in the world.

The victory also means the 19-year-old becomes the British number two, moving above Anne Keothavong, who has dropped to world number 104.

Elena Baltacha remains the British number one and is ranked at number 59.

Watson marked the occasion with a straight sets win over France's Anais Laurendon to make it through to the second round of the ITF tournament in Shrewsbury.

She will play fellow Briton Tara Moore in her next match.
