US Open 2017: Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid reach men's wheelchair doubles final

Britain's Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid are into the final of the US Open men's wheelchair doubles after beating Gustavo Fernandez and Shingo Kunieda.

The second seeds beat the Argentine-Japanese pair 6-3 6-2 on Arthur Ashe Stadium.

They will face French top seeds Stephane Houdet and Nicolas Peifer in the final.

Hewett, 19, is making his debut at Flushing Meadows, while 25-year-old Reid won the title in 2015.

In the women's wheelchair doubles, Britain's Lucy Shuker and partner Yui Kamiji of Japan, the second seeds, lost 0-6 6-4 (10-5) to American Dana Mathewson and Aniek Van Koot of the Netherlands in the semi-finals.

Britain's Andy Lapthorne beat 2015 US Open champion Dylan Alcott 6-4 6-1 in the first of his three quad singles round-robin matches.

World number two Lapthorne won the quad singles and doubles titles at last week's US Open USTA Wheelchair Championships in St. Louis.
