Norfolk triathlete Chrissie Wellington is adamant she will be fit to compete for her fourth Ironman world title, despite a bike training fall.

The 34-year-old published photos of her bruised and grazed legs and arms on social networking site Twitter, external.

Wellington added: "The body is capable of amazing things. I WILL be on the start line."

The Ironman World Championships, a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile cycle and 26.2-mile run, are in Kona, Hawaii on 8 October.

"Long story short: Front flat tyre, cornered, came off, nothing broken, very battered, bruised and bloody. But still full of fight," she posted.

She continued: "Life throws you curve balls. The key is to bounce those balls right back. Pain. It's a brain game right?!"

Wellington, from Feltwell, missed last year's event through illness, external after winning the title in the three previous years.

She has been in outstanding form in 2011, knocking a minute off her own world record, clocking a time of eight hours, 18 minutes and 13 seconds in Germany two months ago.
