Cornwall's Melissa Reid won her second world title of the week on Friday as she took victory in the Tri-6 category at the World Paratriathlon Championships.

The 22-year-old won the world title in the aquathlon event on Wednesday in Hyde Park.

Reid beat her main rival Susanna Rodriguez of Spain into second place, finishing in a time of one hour, 13 minutes and 24 seconds.

Britain's Charlotte Ellis took bronze.

Reid has enjoyed a breathtaking 2013, with the British and European titles already wrapped up this season in the Tri-6 classification for visually impaired athletes.

She had planned her season around peaking for the World Championships and made good on that strategy with a strong performance across all three disciplines.

Reid, a member of the Gyllyngvase Life Saving and Triathlon Club in Falmouth, led after the swim and although Rodriguez clawed back some time on the bike ride, a powerful run was more than enough to clinch a dominant victory.

Reid was one of several Cornish triathletes competing in London, with her 16-year-old sister Courtney-Lee, Lowenna Hawkey and Kieran Townsend competing in the 16-19 age-group race and Rebecca Walters in the 20-24 age category.
