Taking on the world's deepest marathon
What is it like to run the World's Deepest Marathon?
Rory Coleman from Cardiff was one of 55 runners to take on the challenge on October 25, 2025.
Participants travelled to the Garpenberg zinc mine in the Hedemora municipality of central Sweden to take on the challenge 1,118m (3,669 ft 10 in) under sea level.
The attempt has been ratified as two Guinness World Records - the deepest marathon (individual) and the deepest underground marathon distance run (team).
It is the first time that the race has been run.
