North Wales Crusaders 22-21 Whitehaven

Clive Griffiths' reign as Crusaders head coach ended with a 22-21 victory over Whitehaven.

Griffiths announced he was stepping down as head coach ahead of Sunday's game.

Whitehaven had won five of their last six games, while Crusaders had failed to win at home since the first game of the season.

But tries from Dan Birkett, Mark Offerdahl, Jono Smith and Gary Middelhurst secured a much needed win.

In Championship One, South Wales Scorpions lost 58-2 away to Oldham.

The game was marred by a serious head injury suffered by Scorpions prop Scott Giles during the opening minutes when he went in to make a tackle and was knocked out.

Play was held up for nearly ten minutes before Giles was taken by ambulance to a neurological unit at Hope Hospital in Manchester.

"There was nothing malicious in the tackle. It was an accident," said Scorpions coach Mike Grady.
