Wales' Owain Doull hopes to combine his road cycling commitments with winning a place in Great Britain's team pursuit squad for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Doull was 11th in Sunday's Velothon Wales road race, riding for Sir Bradley Wiggins' Team Wiggins.

The 22-year-old turned down a contract, external with road race team Europcar to stay with Team Wiggins and keep his Olympic aspirations intact.

"The big goal for next year is obviously Rio," said Doull.

"But also a step up and find a team that can facilitate my ambitions for the track and the road."

Doull has considered moving to road racing on a full-time basis but does not want to scupper his chances of riding for Great Britain in Brazil next year.

The Cardiff-born cyclist believes staying with Wiggins' team could help his cause to qualify for the Olympics.

"Hopefully [I'll] make the team pursuit squad and then ultimately win," Doull added.

"I think if you're part of Team GB the only point of going to the Olympics is to win.

"To be part of that squad for Rio would be an honour."
