Ffion James was "a bit gutted' at her 11th-place finish at the Cyclo-Cross World Championships in Luxembourg after her chain came off twice in the women's Under-23 race.

James had a good start and got up to seventh, but stopped twice to reattach her chain, costing valuable time.

"It's really, really annoying when you know you could be up there," she told BBC Wales Sport.

Abergavenny's James had hoped for a top 10 finish after coming 15th in 2016.

"The conditions were really difficult, but I really loved it. I felt good on the descent and so many people were cheering me on," said the 19-year-old.

"I did improve on last year so I am happy, but I had the potential to get top 10 so I'm just a bit gutted."

Evie Richards, another Briton and the defending champion, took bronze in the women's under-23 event.

James, 19, is the younger sister of double Olympic silver medallist Becky and double world para-cycling tandem pilot champion Rachel.

The latter won silver in the National Track Championships sprint on Friday evening.
