Winter Olympics: Great Britain crash on third run of two-man bobsleigh
Great Britain's two-man bobsleigh team crashed on their third run at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
The sled, being driven by Brad Hall with Nick Gleeson as brakeman, turned over after corner 13 at the Yanqing Sliding Centre.
They walked away unhurt and returned for the fourth heat where their second best run saw them finish in 11th place.
"We're both fit and healthy, we got back up for the fourth run and we're all feeling good," Hall told BBC Sport.
They will now prepare for the four-man competition.
"It's a mistake I haven't made before, definitely surprised that it happened and caught me off guard but that's elite racing, it happens in Formula One and happens in bobsleigh, got to pick yourself up and carry on," added Hall.
"We've looked at some videos, looked at my mistakes and what happened and then you make adjustments straight away. I've driven the corner loads of times correctly and won't be long before I'm getting it right again.
"We're looking forward to four-man now and progressing from there."
Germany claimed a historic clean sweep of the podium with Francesco Friedrich winning gold, Johannes Lochner silver and Christoph Hafer the bronze.
It is the first time any nation has taken every medal in an Olympic bobsleigh event.
Pilot Friedrich and brakeman Thorsten Margis successfully defended their title with a time of three minutes 56.89 seconds, claiming their third Olympic gold having also won the four-man event in 2018.
Lochner and Florian Bauer were 0.49 seconds slower than their compatriots, while Hafer and Matthias Sommer were 1.69 seconds back.
'You are here, you are fighting, you are doing your best'
Analysis from John Jackson - Sochi 2014 bronze medallist
I completely feel for Brad Hall and Nick Gleeson, I went through this [a bobsleigh crash] in 2010 and it broke my heart.
You are here, you are fighting, you are doing your best, you are representing your country.
The main thing, other than damaged pride, is the guys look really good.
I just hope Brad can forget about this now over the next few days and step into the four-man and take that as a chance to bring the medal home.
