Air and Style 2017: Katie Ormerod finishes second

British snowboarder Katie Ormerod claimed a silver medal as women made their debut at the Air and Style big air competition in Innsbruck, Austria.

She was beaten by Finland's Enni Rukajarvi, who scored a combined 176.33 from her two best runs out of three.

Ormerod, who won her first World Cup competition last month, scored 146.33.

She said: "I'm super happy to take second in such a historic event. it feels great to get on the first ever girls podium."

In the men's competition, Rowan Coultas and Billy Morgan finished fifth and sixth respectively.

Meanwhile in short track speed skating, Britain's Charlotte Gilmartin won her second World Cup medal of the season.

She took bronze in the 1500m in Dresden, Germany, behind Kim Boutin of Canada and Netherlands' Rianne de Vries.

"I'm feeling ecstatic about picking up my second bronze medal of the season," Gilmartin said.

"I feel like I am going in the right direction for next year, and towards the end of this season I feel like I am peaking, so I am in a really good place."

And in Para-bobsleigh, Britain's Corie Mapp claimed bronze at the World Championships in St Moritz.

The 38-year-old, who lost both legs while serving with the Army in Afghanistan in 2010, finished 1.77 seconds behind winner Arturs Klots of Latvia after the four runs.

The sport will not be part of next year's Winter Paralympic programme in Pyeongchang but has been provisionally approved for Beijing in 2022.

There was also an excellent fourth place for Kent's James Barnes-Miller in the snowboard-cross events at the World Para Snowboard Championships in Canada.

Barnes-Miller, who was competing in the category for athletes with upper limb impairments, lost out in the bronze medal race to Italy's Jacopo Luchini.

The competition continues on Tuesday with the banked slalom event as the athletes prepare for next year's Games.
