Women's World Curling Championship 2023: Scots miss out on play-offs

Scotland's hopes of progress at the the Women's World Curling Championship have been snuffed out with two round-robin matches remaining.
Rebecca Morrison's rink trounced New Zealand in Sandviken, Sweden, but had earlier lost to the host nation.
They sit 12th out of 13 nations on a record of three wins and seven defeats, with the top six making the play-offs.
The Scots finish off a disappointing tournament against Switzerland, who remain unbeaten, and Turkey on Friday.
After withdrawing from last year's event due to Covid, Morrison is making her World Championship debut alongside Gina Aitken, Sophie Sinclair and Sophie Jackson.
"Against Sweden we were really going toe-to-toe with them for most of the game, but unfortunately end nine just didn't really shape out well for us, so they ended up going ahead, three up at the last," said Morrison, reflecting on a 9-6 loss.
"It was a tough one to take, because it's just another close game to add to the many that we've had this week and been on the wrong side, but you've got to take it for what it is.
"They're a great team, high up in the world rankings, so we just have to accept that and move on."
New Zealand are the only rink without a win after succumbing 12-3 to the Scots.
"That win just keeps us going a bit for that last day that we've got to get through," added Morrison.
"It would be great to come away with a couple more wins, just to finish off the round-robin on a high, so we're going to go out there, just do our best and try to get them."
