Defending men's champions Scotland sit second in the round-robin table at the European Curling Championships after wins over Switzerland and Germany.

And Scotland's women are up to fourth in theirs after defeating Czech Republic and Sweden in Aberdeen.

Bruce Mouat's men were never troubled against Sixten Totzek's third-place Germans and ran out 8-2 winners.

Earlier, they came back from conceding three at the second end to the Swiss before winning 9-6.

A third of their own at the fifth established a 6-4 lead before the Scots edged Yannick Schwaller's side to sit second behind the Italians with four wins out of five.

Joel Retornaz's rink, who have made it five straight victories, are next up for the Scots on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Rebecca Morrison's rink eased to an 8-1 with over the Czechs, with Anna Kubeskova's side conceding after the Scots scored five at the seventh end.

They had a tougher fight on their hands against Isabella Wranaa's Swedes, but a four at the fifth end, which established a 7-2 lead, proved crucial in a 9-7 victory.

It means the Scots have won three of their five games before facing Mia Hoehne's Germans at 09:00 on Tuesday and Silvana Tirinzoni's Swiss, who are currently out in front with a 100% record, at 19:00.
