Dark Skies: Watch as Powys lights go off for dark sky

A town has shut down and dimmed its street lighting to preserve the night sky as it is named Wales' first dark sky community.

Presteigne and the nearby village of Norton, in Powys, have been officially recognised by the organisation DarkSky International.

"For the layperson, for anyone walking in the community, you probably don't actually notice the difference," said Beverley Baynham, mayor of Presteigne and Norton.

She said that being the first in Wales is "a wonderful achievement for such a small community".
