Everton boss Sean Dyche, speaking to Sky Sports: "We were off first half and not much better in the second half, credit Luton for that. We want to go on to win more games. We moved forward with our resiliance, They bombarded us and we dealt with it."

On performance: "It's hard for me to measure games like this, because some of the younger players are carrying a big season. I ask a lot of them and tonight we looked a bit off but credit to Luton, they made it really tough tonight. I'm not going to over question but there's been a lot of good signs."

On one loss in seven: "There's a lot of work to be done. The balance of the club is quite obvious. The team and mentality has moved forward. We are doing all the hard yards."

On his role: "The goalposts moved significantly from the job I got offered to the job I have now but we'll see moving forward."

Luton manager Rob Edwards to BBC Match of the Day: "We obviously wanted to win the game. We threw everything at it so I am disappointed right now. But I can't fault the players. The players gave it absolutely everything, so did the supporters. I'm really proud of everybody, but yeah, of course I wanted to win the game."

On the decision to award Everton a penalty: "I don't think we can complain too much. Teden Mengi has been incredible for us. He's a young player with a massive future. It's just another bit of learning for him."

On Elijah Adebayo's goal: "He's got that, and you can see we've missed him. He's a key player for us and it's great to have him back."

On Luton's chances in the final moments: "I feel sick, I'm ready to take off in celebration. We threw everything at it. We were pushing until the end and that is us. We've been like that all season.

"The supporters can see when the players are giving absolutely everything for the shirt. There's pride.

"We're still in the mix and the fight, we've got to keep believing."

Luton boss Rob Edwards, speaking to Sky Sports: "I feel disappointed, we had to win the game. We are still in this fight as we speak. I'm proud of the performance we gave but it would have been huge tonight. You can't guarantee wins at any level never mind the Premier League. Everton played well, they had some good weeks and had a celebration this week as well. Almost but we've had a lot of them this year."

On missing Adebayo: "We found our way and it cause a lot of teams problems. He's not fully fit but he showed what he could do. We lost a lot of key players at the same time and the squad was really thin."

On gameplan: "We still wanted to use the width more. We maybe forced things a little bit. We tried to play a little but vertical and could have switched it sooner. The effort was there and there was some good quality at times, there really was."

On relegation battle: "There's a long way to go and it's over to them [Nottingham Forest] tomorrow. There's a situation that's going on that's out of our control that isn't ideal."

On performance: "We played really well. We've played like that for a big chunk of the season. It gives me confidence even if we don't win. You see the lads progressing and growing into the league. That is my job as well."

On Nottingham Forest points deduction appeal: "I've heard Nuno [Espirito Santo] talking about it as well. It's unique, I don't really understand it. Everyone would just like to know where they stand. I think we'd all like that. It's just not an ideal situation."

On support: "We can control our performance and how hard we work. Our supporters are amazing, I love them."

Elijah Adebayo scored his 10th Premier League goal of the season for Luton tonight.

With Carlton Morris also scoring 10 this season, the Hatters are the first side with two players on 10+ goals in their debut seasons since Arsenal in 2017-18 (Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang).

Excluding the first season in 1992-93, they are the first team to have two Englishman do so in the competition.

Alfie Doughty has created 65 chances for Luton Town this season in the Premier League.

Since 2003-04, the only Englishmen to create more chances in their debut season in the competition are James Maddison (100 in 2018-19) and Rickie Lambert (81 in 2012-13).

Luton have won only one of their past 15 Premier League fixtures, drawing four and losing 10.

Everton defender James Tarkowski, speaking to Sky Sports: "Mentality, togetherness and everyone on board. That's not just players, it's staff and fans. We managed to get a point on the board.

"It's the season's work. We had a great win last week and now have a great opportunity to see where we would have finished without the deduction. We've defended really well this year, apart from the Chelsea game.

"We've been working towards a goal of improving the squad mentality and the togetherness and we have done. We continue building.

"We've got a home game next week against Sheffield United and it's a great opportunity to play in front of our fans and put on a show because they deserve it."

Everton manager Sean Dyche on BBC Match of the Day: "We weren't where we've been performance-wise, but credit to them though. They put the pressure on with a lot of long and diagonal balls - there's nothing wrong with that by the way. Overall we dealt with that pretty well, though they did score a goal from that.

"Another day, I know there's a lot of news and noise recently about penalties, but I'm amazed we didn't have another one.

"The one on Dwight McNeil, I've seen it back and his foot has clearly gone on top of Dwight's foot. That one, from the penalties I've seen this season, I'm very surprised they've not given that.

"Everybody is talking about minimal contact, I know there's a lot of noise for other clubs, but that's the third one we've had this season. If they stand on your foot, how can you run? If your foot is in the air and you're tapped, I can understand that. But if they stand on your foot, it's probably going to bring you down.

"I thought we were a bit off it, not on the beach by the way. But the quality of the play and the demand of winning just softened a little.

"We're playing against a team who are fighting for their lives and fair play to them. Nobody gave them a chance at the start of the season."

Luton striker Elijah Adebayo, speaking to Sky Sports: "The boys are a little bit flat in there but we'll see what happens tomorrow. We'll do what we have to do. The boys have everything, pushed them back and made them defend. We'll see how it goes."

On return from injury: "It was tough. I've just come back from a long-term injury. Today it was about conserving my energy and get in the box to score the goals. We thought we could get some crosses in the box and we've got me and Carlton Morris in there trying to head it. It's something I've learned coming through and I've kept it to this day."

On what Rob Edwards said post-match: "He says we gave it everything and we have to rest and reover for the next day. We put something on for the fans that they can proud of again."

On missing games through injury: "It's been tough. I've watched a lot of the games. I was itching to come back a few weeks earlier and I had a little setback. I just wanted to help the boys."

On Andros Townsend's late shot: "Look at the gaffer's reaction, we all thought it was going in. I can't believe it. Everton defended well. We just have to kick on for next week. I won't watch the games tomorrow, I'll just look at the full-time scores. We'll focus on what we've got and see where we are."

Bolton won 3-1 at Barnsley tonight in the League One play-off semi-final first leg.

Luton goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski has conceded all of those 78 Premier League goals this season.

Only Ipswich's Craig Forrest in 1994-95 (81), Burnley's Brian Jensen in 2009-10 (80) and Leeds' Illan Meslier last season (79) have conceded more in a Premier League season.

Luton Town have conceded 78 goals in the Premier League this season, the most by a side in a debut season since Blackpool in 2010-11 (also 78).

Since the start of February, they have shipped 46 goals in 16 games in all competitions, the most of any side in Europe's big-five leagues.

They haven't kept a clean sheet since January.

If Nottingham Forest win at relegated Sheffield United tomorrow, they would be three points above Luton with two games to go - and a much better goal difference.

The Hatters really need Forest to drop some points at Bramall Lane.

Burnley host Newcastle tomorrow and could move above Luton into 18th with a win.
