It's a dream way for Emma Hayes to see out her final day at Kingsmeadow on the day that Chelsea's Women's Super League title chances are turned around.

"It's emotional. I have had a lot going on thinking about it [her departure]. I have spent a third of my life doing this with Chelsea. It has been my home, my family. My family have been here with me, my son has been born here. I experienced my dad dying in the last year in a club that has been my entire heart.

"It has felt strange for me in the last couple of months but I am grateful. I look out tonight and see the fans and I feel the love and I feel the love for the team and it is all I have ever really wanted.

On the fans: "These are my people, this is my community, I'd go to war with them and I have done. I wouldn't change a single day and I am grateful to have been given the honour to be manager of this team.

The second half note: "I went to two up top and diamond in midfield. Just a positional change. Brought Cat into midfield and it changed everything. Guro Reiten what a performance from her.

"This is a conversation for another time but this team is in transition and to be competing at the top end is great. It hasn't always been perfect, some had to learn how to become winners, but we needed something like that from Guro tonight and she certainly led the way."

Chelsea boss Emma Hayes speaking to Sky Sports: "We've had some disappointments, no question, but I think the players wanted to put in a performance that was worthy of what champions look like. We didn't want to go out on a whimper, for Fran, for Maren, we wanted to make it a game to remember for the fans.

On setting a marker by scoring eight goals: "What are the chances of that? That at the beginning of the day that Arsenal would beat City late on and we would win 8-0, what are the odds of that? That shows you what you can do when you have belief.

"I said to the players that we have to be ready. If Man City slip up we have to be ready. Today was another opportunity for us to get closer to something that was slipping out of our grasp quite honestly. I am super proud. Everything Chelsea represents was shown there today."

A night which will go down in Chelsea history.

That sums up the jubilation for Chelsea this evening.

Player of the match Guro Reiten speaking to Sky Sports: "Today has been a good day for us, with the result before we started and we knew we were never going to give up, we were going to push. From the first kick to the last we fought for every goal and we deserved it. Two games to go, it's going to be fun!

On having the hunger to keep adding goals: "We have been in so many different situations [over the years] but this is a new one for us, chasing goals. But we can do anything, I believe so and everyone in the team did too today. Everyone was so good and I am tired.

On the goal difference: "We've just got to focus on ourselves and do the job. You saw the last game for us, you never know what is going to happen so we just have to keep focussed and be at our best, and then we'll see [what happens] in the end.

On the emotion of Hayes, Kirby and Mjelde leaving the club: "They have been so important to this club and they mean so much. So yeah it is sad to see them go but that's football."

Quite the way to see out your final home game after 12 years as manager.

Bristol City boss Lauren Smith speaking to Sky Sports: "The second half they really turned the screw. We were out of legs, out of ideas and just putting our bodies on the line. It was a quality display by them to make sure they are still in the title race.

"The result earlier meant they were extra fired up. They are in it until the end and I wouldn't expect anything else from an Emma Hayes Chelsea team."

On learning from the defeat: "I hope they learn from it, can put it into action next year so we are a better version of ourselves and do this to other teams rather than being on the receiving end."

Chelsea have overturned the goal difference gap.

They have a game against Tottenham to be played on 15 May before the final day.

On 18 May, the last day of the season, Chelsea face Manchester United and Manchester City are up against Aston Villa.

I feel like I have shifted my mind about the title race a few times throughout the season.

Before the season I said Chelsea were going to win it again. Then Manchester City have had the best season I have seen from them, so I thought it was going their way. But after today I think Chelsea are going to win it. Two tough fixtures ahead but I think they will have the quality to do it.
