That's the case with this Lancashire knock as Jack Blatherwick and Will Williams are doing here.
This is worth 29 runs and a partnership that is developing in annoyance factor.
Somerset 64-0 v Notts 193
Luke Fletcher's run of three successive maidens comes to an end as his attempted bouncer goes askew and is called wide.
He's into his sixth over his second spell and ninth of the innings - and thundered in, so may be showing signs of tiring.
His immaculate line and length slips a little and Sean Dickson (40) is quick to pounce, as Fletcher concedes a rare boundary.
He goes over the wicket and gets one to nip back into Dickson's pads, angling towards leg stump. It looked a really strong lbw shout, but the umpire is unmoved.

Warwickshire's score of 300 really is the outlier today.
There are 11 overs left tonight and Hampshire really could do with a couple of wickets to change the complexion of the match.
Not sure the Bears are going to reach 698 like last week, but certainly a very good score.

Good job Tom Lawes didn't get a fingertip on that or it could have been a sticky moment for Daniel Bell-Drummond.
Jack Leaning hits it powerfully back down the track and knocks out a stump at Lawes' end, but there was no contact by the bowler.

Who'd be a top order batter in these conditions!? But it's the same for both sides.
And very similar for both sides in terms of the way the innings have started with two early wickets.
Worcestershire will be hoping that they can steady the ship in the way that the third-wicket pair of David Bedingham and Colin Ackermann did for Durham.
But it's a good start by the Durham bowlers. There's hardly been a loose delivery by either of them, Ben Raine in particular has been on the money and both Raine and Matt Potts have picked up a wicket.

Luke Fletcher is looking the bowler most likely and the Somerset openers are giving him plenty of respect with plenty of leaves.
Fletcher picks up his fourth maiden from his seven overs. Tight.

This is close to being a perfect day for Essex.

It really is pretty dark out there, lights or not, and Max Holden can only nick a leg-cutter from Mickey Edwards to the keeper as Middlesex lose their second wicket.
