Two students from a Cornish school have become computer champions.

Samantha Wills, 15, and Nathaniel Fox, 14 from Hayle Community School competed in the UK-wide Microsoft Office Competition.

Both students sat 50-minute online exams in Word and Excel, completing them in under six minutes, and becoming the first students to score 100%.

Both students will compete at the European finals in Madrid to win a place in the world final in the US.

Nathaniel said: "We couldn't believe that we'd won and are now UK champions. I can't wait for the final in Madrid, what an experience that will be."

Both students studied for the exams during their lunch breaks and after school.

Head teacher Chris Jackman said: "The school is very proud of our young people's achievements at the competition and to be UK champions is wonderful."

More than 100,000 students from 70 countries around the world compete in the annual competition.
