Blackpool celebrates armed forces with week of events

Events are taking place in the town all week
Blackpool is hosting a week of events to honour our servicemen and women to mark Armed Forces and Veterans Week.
From dusk on Saturday, a series of images chosen by war veterans and local children will be projected onto the full height of the town's cenotaph.
A photographic history of Blackpool's role in World War II as a troop training centre will be on display at the Shop for Heroes on Bank Hey Street.
A free concert is also taking place at the Opera House on Saturday night.
The concert features Frank Carson and the RAF Cosford Band with the Blackpool Music Service Youth Concert Band, 7th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland Pipes and Drums, the Kings of Swing, Ti-Amero and Jennifer Ball.
The events mark a week-long programme of events, including an afternoon tea dance held at the Tower Ballroom on Wednesday.
On the same day, local taxi drivers will pull their cabs along the promenade in aid of forces charities.
The drivers aim to get from Blackpool Tower to the South Pier, starting at 1300 BST.
Next Sunday, members of the Armed Forces, veterans and cadets are being invited to join in a parade along the promenade following a morning service at the cenotaph.
