A 16-year-old boy has been reprimanded for shining a laser pen at a police helicopter to distract the pilot.

The teenager was arrested in Crabtree Place, Cheltenham, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Sgt Mark Stephens said shining lasers at aircraft or vehicles was dangerous and could have serious consequences.

"This person now has a criminal record but more importantly understands the potentially serious consequences of his actions," he said.
