Flooded Cockermouth police station reopens doors

A police station badly damaged in the Cumbria floods is to reopen to the public on Tuesday.

Officers at Cockermouth had to abandon parts of the station after the floods hit the county in November last year.

The reopening will be marked by the removal of two portacabins which have housed staff while the repair works have been taking place.

The ground floor, which includes the front counter, has now been refurbished.

Insp Martin Connolly, who is based at the station, said: "Losing the ground floor of our station during the November floods was a challenge to say the least and I am proud of the dedication and patience of my staff."
