Two men killed in a stabbing at a business in south-east London have been named as a father and son.

Brendan McMillan, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene and his father Terry McMillan, 58, from Chislehurst, died hospital following the stabbing on Long Lane in Bermondsey at 13:00 BST on Monday.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in hospital, although his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A 47-year-old man remains in hospital with non-life-threatening or life-changing injuries, said the Metropolitan Police.

'Forever smiling'

The victims' families are being supported by specialist officers, the force added.

The stabbing took place near housing provider Trademark Homes.

Terry McMillan set up a company in 1998, now known as the Trademark Group, specialising in property development and investment, according to the McMillan Family Trust, a charity which aims to transform the lives of young people in different communities.

Scotland Yard said that "a crime scene is in place at a nearby hotel where the arrested man went into", adding that he was not staying there.

In an update on Tuesday evening, the Metropolitan Police said Terry had died at the scene on Long Lane while Brendan died in hospital. However, on Wednesday they clarified this was the other way around.

They also updated the age and condition of the fourth man in hospital.

The investigation "continues at pace", police said

Old Colfeians Rugby Club, in Lee, south-east London, paid tribute to Brendan McMillan as "a member of our family" and his father as a "long-time supporter and sponsor of the club".

In a post on Instagram, it wrote: "Yesterday, Old Colfeians lost a member of our family, one of the kindest, funniest, most genuine people you could ever meet.

"Brendan lit up every room he walked into, forever smiling, always cracking a joke and always full of life.

"His absence will be deeply felt for a long time to come. We will miss him more than words can say and we'll always carry his memory with us.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with their family and friends during this incredibly difficult time."

Labour MP Neil Coyle, who represents Bermondsey and Old Southwark, described the stabbings as "truly awful" and said it was "a targeted, isolated incident".

A resident, who asked not to be named, said: "It's terrifying. I walk past there all the time - it makes you feel really uneasy.

"You just don't expect something like this to happen on a normal weekday."

Det Ch Supt Emma Bond said: "Our thoughts are first and foremost with the family and friends of the victims of this tragic incident.

"Our investigation continues at pace and we are working hard to understand the full circumstances."
