A £3m foot and cycle bridge in Cambridge has scooped two top awards.

The bridge over the Cam at Riverside is to receive the Arthur G Hayden Medal from the International Bridge Conference.

It has also picked up a highly commended accolade from the Regional Planning Achievement Awards run by the Royal Town Planning Institute.

The 200m bridge is the first to be built across the Cam in over 40 years and provides a link with Chesterton.

It includes a low-level walkway, a separate cycleway and seating areas for people to relax and enjoy views of the river.

The project is part of a continuing programme of measures being introduced to increase cycling in Cambridge.
