An 18-year-old man has died from injuries he suffered when a car crashed on a roundabout in Sheffield earlier this week.

Police said he had been a passenger in a black VW Golf, which hit the barriers on St Mary's Gate at about 01:55 BST on Monday.

Another passenger in the vehicle, a 15-year-old boy, was also injured in the incident and remains in hospital.

A 21-year-old man, who was slightly injured, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and has been bailed by police.

South Yorkshire Police said the 18-year-old's family had been informed of his death and were being supported by specialist officers.

The A61 St Mary's Road, at the roundabout with Bramall Lane, was closed for much of Monday morning while crash investigators were at the scene.

Anybody with information, or who saw the crash, has been asked to contact police.
