The Spalding Flower Parade will return in 2025, the organisers have confirmed.

The event will take place on Saturday 10 May and will be held at the Springfield Events and Conference Centre.

The development follows an announcement in May that the event would be cancelled due to a perceived lack of council support, red tape and issues finding a replacement venue while the Castle Sport Complex is refurbished.

The organisers have also confirmed it is planning to hold live entertainment the night before the event and run a regular shuttle bus service.

The first parade took place in 1959 and ran annually until its cancellation in 2013. The event was then brought back in 2023 and 2024 at the Castle Sports Centre.

But the complex is undergoing a £26m makeover with three new swimming pools, a new 3G floodlit football pitch, changing pavilion and multi-use games area.

The construction works will be taking place during the time of the 2025 event, which meant the organisers needed to find an alternative.

The Springfield Events and Conference Centre, on the outskirts of the town, had previously hosted the parade and the organising committee said it was "absolutely delighted" to return to the site.

In a statement, the organising committee said the route will be "similar" to last year and will feature the traditional floats and marching bands.

The chairman of the Springfields Horticultural Society, Adrian Jansen, said he was pleased to be "able to help with the parade organisation" and hopes it will be a "fun and enjoyable day for all".
