Five injured as car crashes into Windsor Castle wall

Several people have been injured in a crash involving two vehicles and two pedestrians outside Windsor Castle.

Police, fire and ambulance crews attended the scene of the collision on Thames Street, Windsor, at about 07:50 GMT, which left a car crashed into the castle wall.

Five people received "immediate emergency care", Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service (RBFRS) said.

The vehicles were removed at about 11:00 GMT and the road was reopened.

A spokesperson for South Central Ambulance Service said a team leader, an ambulance and two helicopter emergency medical service cars attended.

Police initially said the road would be closed for "some time".

Fire service crews from Slough and Windsor fire stations were sent to the scene alongside an officer.

"Upon arrival, crews discovered a collision involving two vehicles and two pedestrians," RBFRS said.

"Firefighters made the scene safe and provided immediate emergency care to five people before placing them in the care of South Central Ambulance Service."
