A tribute has been held for a football fan who died in a crash in a car park outside his team's ground.

James Maxwell Johnstone, 76, from Dumfries, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident near Queen of the South's Palmerston Park last month.

A minute's silence in his honour was held ahead of their league clash with Edinburgh City on Saturday.

Flowers and a football shirt were also be laid on Mr Johnstone's regular seat at the ground.

Emergency services were called to the Dumfries club's stadium shortly after the Doonhamers defeated Dundee United on penalties on 26 November.

Mr Johnstone died as a result of the accident and another man and two boys also needed treatment.
