Fish and chip shop gutted in blaze
- Published
A fish and chip shop in Scarborough has been destroyed in a blaze which led to people living and working nearby being evacuated from nearby buildings.
Emergency crews were called to The Princess on Eastborough, in the town centre, at about 12:10 BST on Tuesday.
Roads in the area were closed for up to an hour while the fire was extinguished, according to police.
No one was hurt in the blaze, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said the building had since been made safe and all roads re-opened.
A campaign has been launched in a bid to raise funds to restore the shop.
