The M48 Severn Bridge has reopened following a "police-led incident" that closed it in both directions earlier.

National Highways said the bridge was closed between Junction 1 for Aust and Junction 2 for Chepstow.

Drivers were told to either delay their journeys or use the M4 Prince of Wales Bridge instead, due to an "Avon and Somerset Police-led incident".

The roads agency said the bridge has reopened eastbound and "there are no significant delays on approach".
