A motorcyclist who was injured in a crash with a van in West Sussex has died in hospital two days later, Sussex Police say.

Joshua Southgate, 20, from Broadwater near Worthing, was riding a blue Yamaha motorbike which collided with a white Ford Transit Connect on the A27 westbound at Clapham, at about 17:15 BST on Monday.

He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries but died on Wednesday, a police spokesperson said.

A 62-year-old man from Waterlooville in Hampshire who was driving the van was uninjured.

Sussex Police closed a section of the road for several hours following the crash to allow for recovery and forensic examination.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene.

Anyone who saw what happened or has relevant dash cam or mobile footage is being asked to contact the police.
