Police have issued an appeal after two sheep were shot with a crossbow.

A farmer found the sheep injured, with crossbow bolts still stuck in them, in a field off Daw Lane in Wadworth, Doncaster, at 07:30 BST on 23 July.

They were treated and are recovering well from the attack which is believed to have happened overnight, South Yorkshire Police said.

A police spokesperson said: "We want to hear from anyone who may have witnessed suspicious behaviour or have information that can help us find those responsible."
