A swimming pool is set to shut for "essential" maintenance at a leisure centre in Wolverhampton.

The pool, at WV Active Central, will be closed on 10 November, as part of three days of work to upgrade fixtures and fittings in changing rooms, along with heating and drainage improvements.

The pool and changing rooms will be closed on the first day, with the male changing room remaining shut for the three days, whilst the women's changing room will reopen on 11 November.

While their changing room is shut, men are welcome to use the pool on 11 and 12 November, but would have to arrive and leave in swimwear under their clothes, City of Wolverhampton Council said.

The council added that there will be no swimming lessons throughout the three days.

However, gym and group exercise classes will operate as usual and toilets would also be available.

Members can use alternative facilities at WV Active Aldersley or WV Active Bilston - Bert Williams, while work takes place.

But the council said that during the PDC Grand Slam of Darts, Aldersley's gym opening hours would be 06:30 to 15:00 GMT from 10 to 12 November.

Council cabinet member for health, wellbeing and community Obaida Ahmed said the "essential improvements" were designed to "cause minimal disruption, as we invest in the future of this valued site".
