A man has been found guilty of manslaughter following a house fire which claimed the life of a man in Huddersfield.

Raimondas Vejelis, 52, was one of six people rescued from a flat in Hillhouse Lane, Fartown, after a fire broke out in the early hours of 14 February. He died from his injuries in hospital a few days later.

Marcin Kramarski, 42, of Hillhouse Lane, was cleared of murder but convicted of manslaughter following a trial at Leeds Crown Court.

He is due to be sentenced in December following a psychiatric report.

Kramarski faced three additional charges.

One count of arson was withdrawn by the prosecution and he was found not guilty of a further charge of arson with intent to endanger life.

However, he was convicted of one count of arson being reckless as to whether life would be endangered.
