Campaigners have encouraged residents to object to a planned 5G mast.

The 20.6m (67.5ft) pole could be installed at South Staffordshire Golf Club on Codsall Road in Tettenhall.

Wolverhampton City Council turned down the application in November on the grounds it would have a detrimental impact to residents but applicant Cornerstone took the refusal to the planning inspectorate.

The firm, which supports Virgin Media, O2 and Vodafone, said it understood mobile infrastructure could lead to concerns about proposed developments.

Tettenhall District Community Trust has encouraged residents to submit objections to the appeal.

Planning officer Jobe Elwell said the mast would stand out as a noticeably prominent feature to many neighbouring houses.

Cornerstone said it gave "great consideration to the location and design of our developments".

They said their plans for the golf club would improve network coverage in the area but the planned base station was refused by the council.

"After reviewing all our options, we concluded that the proposed site remained the best option locally. For this reason we have progressed a planning appeal," a spokesperson added.

This news was gathered by the Local Democracy Reporting Service which covers councils and other public service organisations.
