Breakfast presenter Greg James says the Radio 1 Big Weekend line-up in Luton is "one of the strongest we've ever had".

The three-day music event takes place in Stockwood Park from Friday and will feature performances from Coldplay, Raye and Chase & Status.

He said: "Genuinely, I've done a load of these, and I always think 'how is the next one going to be better' and they just are."

"With some of those big American artists, with Coldplay on the Sunday, Raye on the Saturday, she's had the most amazing year, Chase & Status on the Friday... I do think it's our strongest line up for many many years."

James has broadcast his BBC Radio 1 breakfast programme from the festival site for the last week.

In that time he has explored Luton and the surrounding areas.

He said: "We went to Hitchin on Monday afternoon and went to the Green Man for pub grub in the garden, Nandos on Tuesday."

"It's a beautiful park, it's a lovely spot and we're almost ready to go."
