Plans to transform a mental health facility in Shipley will "change lives", those behind the scheme have claimed.

A £3m proposal to refurbish premises run by The Cellar Trust charity, on Farfield Road in the town, have been put forward.

The scheme, which is being financed by the government's Towns Fund, includes plans to create a new "wellbeing garden" open to members of the public.

More healthcare and wellbeing services will also be based at the venue.

Bradford Council, which is involved the project, said the scheme would focus particularly on supporting vulnerable people.

A new atrium and a multi-faith room are also part of the plans.

Adam Clerkin, chairman of the Shipley Towns Fund, said: “We are pleased to support this incredible project, which will change people’s lives.

"It will provide a wide range of integrated support services, delivered by a skilled workforce and a team of volunteers who are trained in engaging, assessing, motivating and giving people the tools to improve their health and wellbeing."
