Residents in one Jersey parish are being invited to decorate their homes in patriotic colours to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day.

The competition, which runs from 1 April to 10 May, aims to see the properties in St John "bursting with colour and community pride", Constable Andy Jehan said.

Organisers said the best dressed property would win a £50 voucher for St John's Inn.

Jehan said: "This competition is a fantastic way to bring people together and celebrate our island's history."

Residents can submit a photo of their display via email to lib80@stjohn.je, external, organisers said.

They said judging would take place soon after Liberation Day on 9 May.
