Police have made arrests after two teenage girls climbed up scaffolding in Loughborough.

Leicestershire Police said officers were called to Baxter Gate at about 22:45 BST on Thursday over concerns about the welfare of the girls, who were reported to be on top of the scaffolding.

Part of the Leicestershire town centre was cordoned off for hours while trained negotiators spoke to the pair. The cordon was lifted at 08:45 on Friday.

A 15-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage, and has been released on bail, while a 14-year-old, arrested on suspicion of the same offence, has been released with no further action.
