Harbour duty-free shops set to open in summer

Duty-free shops will be introduced in two buildings at Guernsey Harbour

Duty-free shops are set to be introduced at Guernsey Harbour later this year.

Brittany Ferries has been selected by Guernsey Ports to operate stores in the vehicle paddock and harbour terminal buildings in St Peter Port.

The firm, which was chosen in October by the States of Guernsey to run the island's ferry services, will also take over the food and beverage facilities in the harbour.

Guernsey Ports said six jobs would be created at the facilities which are expected to be open by early summer.

David Buddery, Guernsey Ports' commercial development project manager, said the duty-free shops would be a welcome addition to the harbour.

"This is one of a number of initiatives Guernsey Ports is working on to both enhance the experience of our users and diversify our revenue streams," he said.

Joelle Croc, Brittany Ferries' director of customer experience and onboard sales, said the company was thrilled to be chosen to run the facilities.

Ms Croc added: "With our new schedule fast approaching, we are working diligently to ensure our new retail and dining facilities, along with dedicated staff we are recruiting, are ready to welcome travellers and deliver an exceptional experience during what promises to be a busy season."
