A motorcycle shop that has operated in a town centre for more than 20 years has been gutted in a fire.

PM Racing Team in Shildon, Teesside, went up in flames on Monday morning with the roof collapsing.

No-one was injured in the blaze at the Church Street premises.

Shop staff hailed firefighters from County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service as "heroes" for stopping it from spreading.

Five fire engines and an aerial ladder platform attended the scene at the height of the blaze.

An investigation into the cause is under way.
